GIMP or Photoshop CS4?

So In creating the simple logo for this site I tried 2 different programs, GIMP and Photoshop CS4. I'd love to have GIMP as the editor of choice since it's Open Source and all, and Photoshop is just so expensive!

So I tried at about 45 minutes each tool. Although I have used Photoshop a bit, I tried to play with stuff I haven't had experience with before, and in GIMP I lowered the bar on expectations. Both were frustrating in their own way, but I found the Photoshop tool still is more intutive to use and delivered better quality images from my monkey like artistic and design talent.

Ultimately I could not do what I wanted in GIMP so I tried to work within it's envolope and I still found places where I got stuck on one step or another. I guess If I need to do scripting in Python for image processing I'll try again, but for now it looks like Photoshop CS4 wins for me.

Oh well...
